  • princess tiana: raises money on her own and starts her own business as a black woman in the fucking 20s
  • everyone:
  • princess anna: kinda saves her sister after getting played off as the silly quirky girl the entire movie
  • everyone: WHOA!!!! WHAT A FEMINIST!!!!! HOLY SHIT THE ONLY DISNEY PRINCESS TO EVER HAVE GIRL POWER!!!!!! HOLY SHIT!!!!!! HOLY SHI

Actresses that I absolutely adore - I always get asked, ‘Where do you get your confidence?’ I think people are well meaning, but it’s pretty insulting. Because what it means to me is, ‘You, Mindy Kaling, have all the trappings of a very marginalized person. You’re not skinny, you’re not white, you’re a woman. Why on earth would you feel like you’re worth anything?

I watched the meerkats getting lunch at DAK today. So precious. They kept scurrying back to their tunnels every time a bird flew over, and they ate all their bugs but refused the vegetables.

If you had told 12 year old me that I would one day work on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, I would’ve screamed and cried hysterically.

It’s a severe understatement to say that I was obsessed with the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. I once kept a cereal box because it had Jack Sparrow on it (and it’s still in my closet). I would marathon the trilogy on my old desktop computer, taking pictures of the screen on my old point-and-shoot camera because I didn’t understand how to take screen caps back then. I put up a poster of Jack and Will on my ceiling so I could gaze into their eyes as I fell asleep. I read and wrote fan fiction religiously. The first graphics I designed were for Pirates of the Caribbean icon contests. I bought two of the same Pirates shirts because I was afraid I’d wear one of them out too quickly. I would quote random parts of the movie to my family and friends, especially Gibbs’s quotes (“lift it like a lady’s skirt!” “Push it like you’re being paid for it!”). I spent a majority of my babysitting money on Pirates jewelry and school supplies from Claire’s. I was obsessed.

When I found out I’d be working in adlib, Pirates wasn’t my first choice, but between my past (and present?) obsession and my experience working there, I am so glad I got placed there.

Once a pirate, always a pirate.

1. This looks like the weirdest movie ever.

2. Daniel Radcliffe sounds like a COMPLETELY different person with an American accent. His voice literally sounds lower.

3. Oh look, a movie where Daniel Radcliffe makes friends with a snake!

YES YES YES

HIS VOICE I WAS NOT READY

The Spirit of America Fife and Drum Corps will perform their last show by the end of September.

Not gonna lie, Fife and Drum slightly annoyed me while I was working merchandise in America on my CP. They were loud, and sometimes when I was stocking I’d get in the way of their coming onstage.

However, I have some awesome memories of them, too. One of the older attractions cast members, Lonnie (bless his heart), would always round up the kids drawing at Kidcot because F&D did this thing with kids and gave them a scroll at the end of the show. Also, it was pretty entertaining watching the show on slow days (i.e. every day :P). When passing by the Corps backstage, all of the performers were really sweet.

Anyway, I understand that sometimes Disney has to make cuts (and the Voices of Liberty are definitely the more popular performing group in America), but it’s still sad.
